What is PMI-SP exam?
The PMI-SP exam is a certification exam offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI) for individuals seeking to become certified Scheduling Professionals (SPs). The PMI-SP certification is designed to recognize an individual's expertise in developing and maintaining project schedules using recognized scheduling practices and tools.
The exam tests the candidate's knowledge of scheduling concepts, principles, and practices across different project management domains. It covers five domains:
Schedule Strategy: This domain covers the processes and activities required to develop a schedule management plan, including identifying scheduling constraints, defining the project schedule, and establishing scheduling policies and procedures.
Schedule Planning and Development: This domain covers the processes and activities required to develop a project schedule, including defining project activities, sequencing them, estimating their duration, and developing a schedule model.
Schedule Monitoring and Controlling: This domain covers the processes and activities required to monitor and control the project schedule, including tracking schedule performance, managing changes, and reporting schedule status.
Schedule Closeout: This domain covers the processes and activities required to close out the project schedule, including archiving the schedule data, evaluating schedule performance, and identifying lessons learned.
Stakeholder Communication and Reporting: This domain covers the processes and activities required to communicate the schedule information to stakeholders, including preparing status reports, conducting schedule reviews, and presenting the schedule information to stakeholders.
To be eligible to take the PMI-SP exam, candidates must have a minimum of 3,500 hours of experience in project scheduling and have completed at least 30 hours of project scheduling education, or have a secondary degree and 5,000 hours of project scheduling experience, as well as 40 hours of project scheduling education.
