What is PMI PMI-ACP Exam?
The PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) Exam is a certification exam offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI) for individuals who have experience and expertise in agile project management. The PMI-ACP certification is designed to recognize an individual's knowledge of agile principles and practices, as well as their ability to apply agile methodologies to project management.
The exam tests the candidate's knowledge of agile concepts, principles, and practices across different agile methodologies, such as Scrum, Kanban, Lean, and Extreme Programming (XP). The exam covers seven domains:
Agile Principles and Mindset
Value-driven Delivery
Stakeholder Engagement
Team Performance
Adaptive Planning
Problem Detection and Resolution
Continuous Improvement
To be eligible to take the PMI-ACP exam, candidates must have a minimum of 2,000 hours of general project experience working on teams, as well as 1,500 hours of experience working on agile project teams or with agile methodologies. In addition, candidates must have completed at least 21 hours of agile project management training.
Earning the PMI-ACP certification demonstrates an individual's expertise and competence in agile project management and can lead to career advancement opportunities in this field.
The PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) exam covers seven domains, which are as follows:
Agile Principles and Mindset: This domain covers the agile mindset, values, principles, and foundational concepts, as well as the history and evolution of agile methodologies.
Value-Driven Delivery: This domain covers the processes and activities required to deliver value to the customer, including stakeholder engagement, prioritization, and product backlog management.
Stakeholder Engagement: This domain covers the processes and activities required to engage and manage stakeholders, including customers, users, and the project team.
Team Performance: This domain covers the processes and activities required to develop and maintain high-performing agile teams, including team dynamics, collaboration, and leadership.
Adaptive Planning: This domain covers the processes and activities required to plan and manage an agile project, including project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and adaptation.
Problem Detection and Resolution: This domain covers the processes and activities required to identify and address problems and risks that may arise during an agile project, including impediment removal, issue escalation, and continuous improvement.
Continuous Improvement: This domain covers the processes and activities required to continuously improve the agile project, including process analysis, feedback, and retrospectives.
These domains are based on the Agile Practice Guide and other sources recognized by the Project Management Institute (PMI). The PMI-ACP exam evaluates the candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities related to these domains, as well as their ability to apply agile methodologies to project management.
